Today's organizations need business intelligence that draws on increasingly fresher data. However, ETL-based data integration systems process data in scheduled batches that require processing windows, making it difficult if not impossible for companies to stay within these shrinking batch windows while data volumes are growing exponentially. This paper focuses on several solutions approaches for addressing this dilemma, focusing primarily on augmenting existing ETL systems with real-time change data capture (CDC) technology. GoldenGate's real-time, transactional CDC product is detailed in its ability to easily co-exist with ETL while enabling operational business intelligence without the need for batch windows.
